All in all it was a much needed day. My Grandson and his little friend were with us, my Daughters and the little friend’s Dad. The boys started out running to and fro-grabbing as many pinecones and rocks as they could hold. They walked holding hands –the older boy leading the younger-exploring the mud and sticks as they went along. By the end of the journey the rocks and pinecones were back in the woods and the boys were on the shoulders of their perspective parents. The day was topped off with dinner, cake, presents and two very sleepy little boys.
Yesterday several of us set out on a little adventure at Quail Hollow State Park. It was warm in the sunshine but I believe the Ides of March have hung over into April this year, so it was quite windy. What started out as a shorter walk ended up being several miles and a couple of hours in the woods. With all the goofing around, talking and not paying enough attention to where we were going it turned into a pretty good hike. Alas we were tired and hungry and decided it was time to focus in and figure out just which way would get us back to the cars. As we were finishing up the last half mile or so I was regretting being on the stair machine in the gym that morning. All in all it was a much needed day.
