Niagara Falls

Well I started off my marriage in Niagara Falls on the Canadian side, this last little trip we had we decided to swing by the American side, I can’t remember ever being on the New York side before.  I do remember going to the falls when I was little not sure what side.  I  remember the constant  things  about Niagara Falls -first of course the Falls, the tourists, and the very scary wax museums.  For some reason I have some fears the usual heights, spiders, but also clowns and of course wax figures.  I have always been convinced that there are real bodies under the scary shiny exterior – I would have nightmares when I was little-that began after one of those trips to Niagara Falls and the wax museum- of people being tied in the air connected to a hook that slowly and repeatedly dipped them in the enormous vats of wax until the coating was thick enough to cover all human remains except the eyes that follow one around the room.

So we pulled into the campground around 8 pm Sunday night, yes I did say campground, not a Walmart.  It wasn’t a large campground but it was quiet and very clean.  We had decided since it was kind-of on our way home we would do the tourist thing for a few hours.  After a good nights sleep we woke up , fired up the old RV and headed into town.  We managed to get parking in a paid lot – it was tight, Niagara Falls is definitely not RV parking friendly-you aren’t allowed to park RV’s at the state park, but oh well we paid and parked.  We walked everywhere-we hit the observation tower, which was very fun.  Then walked all around the park and headed up to Goat Island and consequently Three Sisters Islands also.

I really enjoyed our walk.  There were beautiful views everywhere.  By lunchtime we found ourselves at the Top of the Falls restaurant and we sat out on the balcony and ate, delicious and a great view.  After some eating and shopping we headed on around Goat Island to the bridge that crosses over to Three Sisters Islands, crossed it and took in the sights there.  Before we knew it we had walked about four or five miles and ended up in front of the Wax Museum-eek!  I tamed my fear and ventured inside with my husband-he loves wax museums, I guess this is part of for better  or worse.  I made it through alive.  At the end of the museum they had a cute little barrel over the falls photo op.  After the wax museum we climbed back into the RV and found our only way out of the lot was over the curb –so over the curb we went - and on our way back home.

I could say photographer, but I am a collector of minutes in time, visual memories.
