Brake Fire -The Sequel

Well having an old rv is always an adventure.  In early June we headed out for an overnight road trip-not too awfully far from home.  Usually these trips start off with a gig and this one did also.  Steve played at the New Milford Café in Rootstown, Ohio.  So after the show we headed toward Youngstown.  A friend of ours was selling custom made jewelry, she is quite the artist, so we thought we would stop by the show she was at and check it out and of course buy some jewelry.

We had a great time exploring urban Youngstown, went to the show, and just started heading home when a dreaded old feeling came back.  Steve looked at me and I looked at him and we just knew –another brake problem and of course we were not in the greatest neighborhood.  We made it up the hill before we stopped in a parking lot.  I could smell the smoke.  I jumped to the back of the rv grabbing the fire extinguisher on the way out the back door.  To my dismay the flames were licking up around the front fender.  I quickly went to work and hit it with the extinguisher–I didn’t have a very big extinguisher so I knew I had to have careful aim and get it knocked down the best I could.  After the extinguisher was emptied there was still some smouldering so I ran over to the drive thru-a drive thru convenience store that is completely wrapped in bars, another indication that this is not the greatest spot to be broken down but I jumped between the cars and asked the worker to call the fire department.  Youngstown FD showed up and finished putting it out for me.

So I do have a much larger extinguisher now.  Hopefully I won’t have to use it again!  Although I do have to say every time I hear a new squeak, knock, moan or groan I am still a little jumpy.  But after the repairs fingers crossed we will be good in our travels for a while.

I could say photographer, but I am a collector of minutes in time, visual memories.
